From the Rector
In our Benefice we are fortunate in having an extensive Home Intercessions Group - offering prayerful support to the people of our communities. The Home Intercessions list is updated each month with a copy placed on the Prayer Board at the back of Saint Luke’s. Some members of the Home Intercessions Group attend monthly Prayer Group meetings (on the second Tuesday, 7:30pm at Saint Luke’s). We review the Home Intercessions List to enable our prayers for each person to be as informed as possible. Prayer Group meetings also involve a short Bible Study and conclude with the saying of Night Prayer (also known as Compline). For further information on the Home Intercessions Group please contact Sheila Butler (860214).

We need to establish a Prayer Group at All Saints. It will be good and right to ensure that this church which has stood for nearly 900 years is used as a house of prayer on days other than Sunday. We will pray for the people of the parish and for the mission and ministry of our church. We will be meeting on the second Thursday of each month at 12:00noon, from 8th July. Meetings will begin with the saying of the short office of Midday Prayer, and last for approximately 45 minutes. You will be very welcome to join us: if you would like further details then do please speak to me.

Please help us keep Saint Luke’s Churchyard tidy!
We are very grateful to Martin Borgartz, Charlie Collar and Elaine Corbett for their hard work in maintaining our churchyard. Martin, Charlie and Elaine receive help from others, including the many people who so carefully tend individual graves. As a result our churchyard is a lovely place in which to sit and reflect.

Regrettably, a small minority of people leave their waste in the churchyard. As the church does not benefit from a refuse collection service we would therefore ask that everyone visiting the churchyard kindly takes home their waste (including organic material). Thank you very much for your co-operation.

New Prayer Group at All Saints
As Christians we know that prayer must be at the heart of all we do. We know from experience that prayer has value as well as power. Each time we come to church we bring with us a particular subject on our minds for four kinds of prayer: thanksgiving, confession, intercession (prayer for others) and petition (prayer for ourselves). And in our own private prayers we may use the ‘ACTS’ form: adoration, confession, thanksgiving, supplication – where supplication includes both intercession and petition.
