As individuals our ministry of intercession is vital. As a community we are well aware of the value of this means of mutual support. Within the community there are always some people in special need of our prayers.
At Saint Luke’s our Home Intercessions Group is made up of individuals who pray for those in special need, as part of their personal ministry of intercession. Each month the prayer list used by the Home Intercessions Group is updated and circulated by the Group coordinator Sheila Butler. A copy of the list is posted on our Prayer Board at the back of the church. If you would like to add a name to the prayer list please contact either Sheila or the rector. Naturally, it will be necessary first to gain permission from the person concerned. And if you would be willing to join the Group then do please speak to Sheila: new members are always welcome.
In order for our prayers to be as informed as possible a monthly Prayer Group meeting is held, on the second Tuesday at 7:30pm in Saint Luke’s. We review the latest prayer list, noting the situation of each person on the list. It should go without saying that matters of confidentiality are fully respected. The meeting begins with a short bible study and a reflection on the nature of prayer; it concludes as we say Compline together, closing at 9:00pm You do not need to be a member of the Home Intercessions Group to attend this meeting: everyone is welcome.
